What to see in Rapperswil-Jona
Rapperswil-Jona is a city and Swiss commune of the canton of San Galo, located in the SEE-Gaster district on the shores of Lake Zurich. The commune is the result of the merger on January 1, 2007 of the communes of Rapperswil and Jona. The Commune of Rapperswil-Jona is formed by the former municipalities of Rapperswil and Jona, with the associated peoples of Kempraten, Wagen and Bollingen. With its 26,989 inhabitants (December 31, 2017) it is the second largest city in the canton, after the city of San Galo.
The commune limits to the north with the communes of Bubikon (ZH) and Rüti (ZH), to the east with Eschenbach and Schmeikon, to the south with Tugen (SZ), Wangen (SZ), Lachen (SZ) and Altendorf (SZ), and to the west with Freienbach (SZ) and Hombrechtikon (ZH).
In the commune there are several railway stations and appeals, being the most important the Rapperswil station, where interregio trains can be taken to cities such as Lucena or San Galo, in addition to the variety of lines that arrive at the station of the network of the Network of S-Bahn Zurich near trains.
